  1. Log in to your QuickBooks Online account.
  2. Select the gear icon (Settings) at the top-right corner of the page and open Account and Settings from the list of available options.
  3. Choose Billing & Subscription on the left panel, then select Cancel subscription from the right-hand side.
  4. Click the Confirm Cancellation button at the bottom of the page to confirm you want to cancel your QuickBooks Online subscription and complete the QuickBooks Online cancel subscription process.

 

You will receive an email confirming that your QuickBooks Online subscription has been canceled, and all associated services will be discontinued immediately.

What happens if I cancel QuickBooks Online?

When you cancel QuickBooks Online, all associated services and features will be discontinued immediately. 

Your data will be stored in the system for 18 months until you can decide whether or not to reactivate your subscription. After 18 months, if you do not reactivate your subscription, your data will be permanently deleted.

This means you will not be able to access any of the services or features related to your QuickBooks Online subscription. You will also be unable to see any of the financial information or reports associated with your account.

Can you cancel QuickBooks at any time?

The only caveat to this is that if you cancel within the first 30 days, you will receive a full refund. After the initial 30-day period, any prepaid fees are nonrefundable, and your subscription will be discontinued immediately. 

Additionally, if you have already paid for an annual subscription, you will not be refunded for any months remaining on your subscription. 

Canceling QuickBooks Online does not automatically cancel any of the related services and fees associated with your account, such as payroll or payment processing fees.

You are still responsible for paying these fees in full to the respective third-party provider. It is important to note that these fees are not refundable, even if your subscription is canceled.

There is no fee to cancel QuickBooks. If you are using one of the paid subscription plans, you can cancel at any time, and your subscription will be canceled immediately.

However, if you have an annual plan and decide to cancel before the end of the year, you will not be refunded for the unused portion of your subscription.

Additionally, if you have already been charged for a future period in advance, that charge will not be refunded.

How do I deactivate my QuickBooks account?

Canceling your QuickBooks subscription does not automatically cancel your account. To deactivate your account, you must first log into QuickBooks and visit the Settings tab in your profile. 

From there, click the "Deactivate Account" button on the right side of the page and follow the prompts to confirm cancellation. Once canceled, all data associated with your account will be permanently deleted.

There is no 18-month grace period to reactivate your account as there is with simply canceling your subscription. All data associated with your account will be permanently deleted and any prepaid subscription fees you have already paid for the current period of service will not be refunded.

If you would like to reactivate your QuickBooks account, you'll need to create a new one from scratch. This includes setting up a new user name, email address and password before you can access the program.
